Colourful, vibrant and charismatic. I started this particular piece during the painting marathon I hosted on Facebook in February 2022.
After a few layers of paint, I spotted an eye and, a couple of seconds later, a large beak. Then another and one more. I love how this trio proudly take centre stage with their vibrant plumage. The title ‘Here we are’ perfectly sums up what the toucan and his gigantic beak radiate with the parrots by his side. They want to colour the world, want us humans to be daring enough to be more colourful and vibrant, and take whatever route we want through life. So we should leave the Swedish phrases of ‘lagom’* and ‘Jante’** behind, dust ourselves off and get rid of any old nonsense we are carrying around with us so that our feathers can gleam with colour again. What do you need to shake off?
