Description

I usually write a few lines about what the paintings or sculptures mean to me, I like it and maybe it will light something positive in your creative mind.

This painting was originally a so-called ‘de-gunge canvas’ where I smear excess paint on and I always have one on a stand in my studio. The funny thing is that I didn’t spot the flowers until the colour had been there for at least a week, but there they were, perfect in their delicate simplicity. Sometimes when I paint and enter into a certain flow, everything just runs on repeat. I paint and paint, smear excess paint onto a different canvas, paint and paint again. smear more excess paint onto the same de-gunge canvas and so on.

The left side of my brain (the intellectual side) that wants to structure and organise things in an orderly fashion takes a rest, while the right creative side is given space to go wild. That is when magic happens and all of a sudden artistic creation emerges as it did with this painting. That’s what I love about the creative process!

To me, “Love is in the air” is about all the beauty in the nature around us, which arouses our senses, makes us stop in awe and enjoy all the flourishing loveliness. The colourful flowers, the shifting hues of the trees, the infinite nuances of the sky and the formation of the clouds are simply stunning! It is the fanciful love that is filling the air, anticipation and sensations bubble and fizz along birds chirping. I feel like I’m transported to a gorgeously balmy, sunny day that smells of summer and love – a bright and better day!
